Taking place on the second Saturday of May every year, the Doomben Classic is one of the many Group races held during Queensland’s premier racing event, the Brisbane Winter Carnival. Taking place at the Doomben Racecourse, the Group 3 race falls on the BTC Cup day, which is the opening raceday of the carnival. The Doomben Classic is open to three-year-olds to compete at set-weights over 1,615 metres with $125,000 on offer.
Also taking place on the BTC Cup Day is the headlining Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) worth $400,000 and the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap (2120m).
